Our Memories of Edgewood

This blog has been created to allow former and current Edgewood School students, parents, and staff members, to share their memories of our elementary school. Perhaps it's a memory of your favorite teacher or student, school event, the building, or just good times with friends, classmates, and colleagues. Whatever your story, we'd love to record it in our Edgewood School Historical Society archives, so that as a school community, we will always remember who we are and what we have accomplished!

Directions for Posting Memories:
Click on the Our Memories of Edgewood post title, click on Post a Comment, select Name/URL, type your name, begin typing your memory. When posting your memory, please include your name, the years of your Edgewood experience, and an email address or contact information if possible, so that we can add you to our growing membership list! Thank you so much for contributing to the research work of the Edgewood School Historical Society!

I remember when I saw the time capsule and Dr. Housenecht told us about it and I remember that people were upset because they wouldn't be there when it would be opened.

My favorite thing that I have done in the past 6 years is watching all of the 3rd grade performances. Every year the 3rd grade performance becomes different. I still think that our 3rd grade in 2006 was better than any one yet.

My favorite memory of Edgewood is
the Edgewood fair with all the teacher treats like "Are You Smarter
Than a 4th Grade Teacher."

I remember that we did the passing of the torch when I was in second grade. Me,Nina, and Gordon were all speaking about the book we read about kidness and care. Dr. Housenecht told me to go up on the balcony with the torch. I didn't know what he meant so I went back to the classroom. He then came back after a few minutes and took me back to the assembly practice.

I remember that Dr.Houseknecht showed us the place where the time capsule was. I was really excited to see it but I won't be able to see it because the capsule will be opened on the 100 anniversary.

I remembered the time Mr. Reilly's class had a class play in 2006. It was called The Mask of the Red Death. I think it was the best.

My favorite memory was the Edgewood fair this year. All fifth grade at the Edgewood fair had a water fight. We got to play with friends and had played some of the Edgewood games and rides. I'll miss fifth grade and all of the memories I had at Edgewood! Goodbye Edgewood, Hello Middle School for the next 3 years!!!!!!!!!!

Two of my favorite memories from elementary school were music lessons in the building outside of the school with Mr. Alshin, and celebrating my birthday at a May Fair one year that just happened to fall on the right day in may.

Two of my favorite memories, have violin lessons in the small, red building outside of school, portable shed, and celebrating my birthday on the day of the May Fair......
It would be great to have a reunion of Edgewood class of 1972

I was in Mr. Liotti's class in 4th grade in 1964 0r 1965. He was the best teacher ever, and I believe we all had schoolgirl crushes. He encouraged me and a few friends to work on our personal project - a production of Charlotte's Web, and ultimately we performed it for the school! Edgewood seemed like one great class after another/

I went to Edgewood for 4th and 5th grade in 1964-1966. It was my first time in public school having transferred from IHM. I loved that I had 2 male teachers (Mr.Yueda -4th(sp?) and Mr. Ackerman- 5th), the freedom I felt of the less regimented classrooms, and the association with new, great kids. Thoughts of Edgewood brings a smile to my face...
